Load and capacity testing large capacitance batteries?
I have had need to conduct load and capacitance tests on C cells and larger, but have been unable to find a means to do so or build something myself that can do that. I have an old Universal Charger and Analyzer model MH-C777Plus-II which is insufficient to check large capacitance batteries either because it times out which is what I suspect rather than maximum specified integer it can display. I tested it against 2x known good D cell rechargeable batteries and got 2540 and 2534 mAH which leads me to believe it really is limited by time.
The goal is to be able to test my older batteries to verify they are in good condition and to use it whenever troubleshooting a since cell of a battery pack is suspected of failure.
Is there a consumer grade product out there to achieve this or something I can fairly easily assemble myself that will operate safely and not explode batteries under normal working conditions and have fail-safes such as high temp or other conditions that trigger safe halt of charge/discharge?
